You may book a routine appointment up to 4-6 weeks in advance with a GP or Nurse. These appointments should be used for routine problems such as follow ups and other routine problems which don't require an urgent appointment on the day. Please note that due to the current COVID-19 availability can vary.
Routine appointments are normally 10 minutes long. However, it's important to note that some appointments may over run. This will sometimes mean you wait longer than your stated appointment time. We always do our best to run on time, however, due to the nature of medicine, this isn't always possible. Please remember than it may be you next time that requires slightly longer.
These appointments are called "Triage" appointments. A member of the urgent care team will aim to call you back within 2 hours and discuss your problem over the phone. However this may be longer if the clinician is dealing with an emergency. In 80% of cases, they will be able to deal with your issue over the phone and prescribe medication should it be appropriate.
In cases where the urgent care team believe they need to see you, you will be asked to come to the surgery either that morning or in the afternoon. A member of the urgent care team will then see you. These appointments do not have pre-defined times associated with them and you will be called in according to your clinical need.
This is a requirement (known as Improved Access) where practices ensure that from Monday to Thursday a practice in each area is open between 6pm-8pm.

Please note as this contract is being delivered at scale across the locality, you will not necessarily be seen by a GP, Practice Nurse or HCA known to you from your practice
To ensure that the Clinician you see has full access to your medical records, when you book your appointment the Administrator will ask you to consent to sharing your medical records. Once consent is gained the clinician seeing you on the day is the only person who will have access to your medical record, this consent is valid for 28 days from the appointment date. It is essential that consent is gained for you to be able to have the appointment. If you feel you do not wish to provide consent then it will not be suitable for you to book the appointment.
