As well as being a GP in the surgery, Dr Lockerbie is on the intermin board of Devon PCT (Primary Care Trust)

In my role, I am responsible for ensuring that the PCT performs its three main functions:

 - To provide healthcare for our patients and reduce inequality in healthcare provision.
 - To purchase specialist and consultant services from the acute hospitals.
 - To promote and develop Primary Health Care. For most of us this means general practice and community nurse teams.

We are continually looking at new ways of providing "care", not just by health practitioners, but in association with our colleagues in the social care and voluntary sector, to support people in their own homes etc. A recent example of this is Dartmouth Caring.
